Religious
Education
Welcome to the 2008 – 2009 Religious Education
program at the Church of the Transfiguration. Our program has been
designed to support our children and youth on their spiritual journey.
Recognizing that the search for truth and meaning is life long, this
year we would like to include Adult Religious Education in our
programming. Our program also includes a safe and cheerful environment
for toddlers, a pre-Kindergarten – Kindergarten class, exciting
children’s classes and a vibrant middle and high school program.
The Religious Education (RE) Committee, the Adult Religious Education
Director Patty Giangrande and me, the Director of Religious Education
Laurie Rinehart will be striving to develop an exciting and engaging
program keeping the needs and desires of our diverse community in mind.
While we have much to offer you, we also need your full participation
for our program to be a success. When we interact as a learning and
caring community we are challenged to live up to our fullest potential.
Please join us on this exciting journey together.

RCIA For Teens & Children
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) process is not just for
adults (even though it has the word 'adults' in the title).
The rite has a special section that provides guidelines for the
initiation of children who have reached catechetical age. What that
means is that children, who are older than seven and wish to be
baptized or were baptized in another faith, go through a process that
is comparable to that of adults, but has been adapted to meet their
unique needs. Their formation sessions take place with others their own
age, so that they share similar life experiences and the planned
activities can be age-appropriate. |
